*********Solved**************

I really don't know what to do to get my wallet works properly...

It had been in a mess since I installed it 3 weeks ago....

Initially, it was on sync with my coins visible in it.
I made a back up immediatly.... to protect the coins.

Then, the coins disappeared and the wallet became constantly out if sync.

After many trial with someone and help of people here, I tried to restaure the wallet
with the coins, but finally all attempts turns to be unsuccessful.

Finally, I deleted everything (because I have the original backup file)
and install the wallet again...

All was fine, the wallet became on sync... and for the last step, I reinstalled the coins.

And this time, as before, the wallet became out of syn, and went back
to former blockchain (531258 with info about december 2015 if I am correct, cannot check right now).

I don't see the coins in the balance (remain at 0) BUT I see my 2 initial transaction form July
to receive the coins in the wallet.

I tried several time to -rescan -reindex the wallet
to put everything in place...

NOTHING is working to have a wallet working WITH my coins in it properly.

WHAT SHOULD I DO ?

I am lost, and would not want to loose the coins.

WHY the wallet was in sync (I checked the current blockchain number)
and then when I change the wallet file to put back the coins, everything
went wrong and wallet became block in a old blockchain number?

When I change the wallet.dat file, I delete every other thing, except the bootstrap files and folder
and the .conf file.

I fixed several other wallets recently, and it was the exact same procedures or similar
and all was fine

Could it be someone to reach out to me and guide me more personally?

I don't want to loose all the coins.

Is there something that I am not aware about with Ok wallet?

What should I do ?

thanks

Hi AltcoinLover,

First a statement so you can feel secure that you will not lose coins, it is impossible to lose coins if you have your private keys (which are inside your wallet.dat)

OK, moving on, could you please share the next info:

1.- OS you are using.
2.- Version of OK wallet you are using.
3.- How many connections do you see in your wallet.
4.- Do you run other wallets side by side with Okcash?

Other than that save your wallet.dat and make a proper backup of it, we will get you there,
seems strange as OK is one of the most efficient cryptocurrencies, everyone else seems to be working OK
so we will help you get to the bottom of this and solve the local issue so you can cheer and enjoy the OK staking.

Also you can check those addresses with your coins anytime over the http://explorer.okcash.co
so you can see they are still there, and nobody else have access to them but the owner of the private keys (Yourself) for ease of mind.

We are opening a new communication channel soon as well with direct and live contact for support and inquiries.

OK will wait for the proper info so we can work on it.
Okcash is self sustainable and is fully supported by voluntaries (Just like Bitcoin)

Hi OKtishi,

First of, could you go back in the thread to find my other message in which I described
what happened and what I did previously to attempt to fix it....
The original wallet was installed JUly 23th and reinstalled completly August 11th.... no improvement
since the initial issue

I am on Windows 8
Version : v4.0.0.0-g
10 active connexions
I run several other wallet for stacking simultaneously
and they are working fine / are fixed easily if issue

The last thinf I remember from all the attempts to fix the wallet is that
I reinstalled everything, all seems fine, bring back my coins..... seemed fine
and then, as previously, coins don't appear anymore and wallet never synced again.

The issue does seem weird as the main thing is that the coins "disappear" from the balance.

Please can you contact le through SKYPE @ LRAYNAL2 ?

I did all the normal things to fix the wallet (and which work all the time in other wallets)

I tell that because I alread lost so much time with this issue and had people helping me
loosing a lot of time as well.

So, this is to make you understand that providing usual recommandation did not work
on several attempts ;-)

Thanks in advance

Looking forward hearing from you

in fact, I realize that we are not in the OKthread from Bitcointalk....

so to see my explaination you could go back in the OK thread ;-)

Or the best, reach me directly on skype @ LRAYNAL2.

Otherwise, I will never have my wallet fixed in
an efficient time line ;-)

thanks

for history, per discussed over discord support channel.

1.- turn wallet off (if its on), make a backup of your wallet.dat file over the okcash data folder.
2.- download okcash easy installer from www.okcash.co .
3.- install okcash with the easy installer, (no need of uninstall it just reinstalls properly on top of itself).
4.- delete everything from the okcash data folder except for your wallet.dat file. (yes remove everything even the config file)
5.- download the ok-blockchain.zip instant chain https://github.com/okcashpro/ok-blockchain/releases/tag/latest .
6.- extract its content to your okcash data folder.
**inside the okcash data folder you should only see 3 files on first start which are: wallet.dat (yours) and from the zip file: txleveldb [folder] and blk0001.dat
7.- restart your computer, start your okcash wallet and give it some minutes to synch.

after those steps everything should be working properly so i will require your feedback of course for follow up.

If one is using Windows 7 or newer and doesn't shut down properly the computer (or power failures are occurring), the file system might be the culprit (along a few other compounding factors to be mentioned a bit later).
Also, if the "hibernate" or "suspend" features are used, the "peers.dat" can end up containing peers that banned one's host on grounds of misbehavior (i.e. they initiated a request, one's host started to respond then went silent for the rest of the communication).
On top of those two major reasons (largely ignored by users and, hopefully, less ignored by devs), there lies another monster reason for apparently inexplicable behaviors: leveldb 4.8, the most used database in crypto-currencies wallets and daemons. Just read about leveldb on Wikipedia:
QuoteLevelDB is widely noted for being unreliable and databases it manages are prone to corruption.[13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20] Academic studies of past versions of LevelDB[21][22] have found that, under some file systems, the data stored in those versions of LevelDB might become inconsistent after a system crash or power failure. LevelDB corruption is so commonplace that corruption detection has to be built in to applications that use it.[23]
Even the mighty Bitcoin is prone to database corruption, but with code managed by an entire foundation... I bet their code includes checks and repairs that other devs are just not noticing... and even so, BTC core wallet might give a bit of tachycardia to a quite large userbase from time to time.
Lesson to learn: back up your "wallet.dat" AND your private keys in as many (secure) ways you can imagine. Then, in case of a malfunction, use your brain to figure out what might have happened, then try to solve the problem by yourself in a consistent and rational way. If that doesn't work (you reached the limits of your current knowledge), then ask politely for help.
Usually, when troubles occur, reinstalling and resync-ing (either from scratch, from a bootstrap.dat or from a database snapshot) solves the problem. But, if the problem is user's behavior... there's not much to be done.

Hi, I have followed and done all above steps, but wallet is still out of sync/syncing, it's been 3 days already and its still syncing, any idea how long will it take or there's a different problem? Thanks
